To channel this problem a fully fabricated wedge meter assembly with external epoxy coating due to environmental erosion was engineered. Results have shown the wedge meter is able to maintain accuracy in the erosive services vs. more traditional flow technology. To counter the leakage issues a fabricated assembly was established allowing for easy instillation, commissioning and maintenance. By using Rosemount transmitters with flushing ring remote seal the required flow communication was achieved and fit client standards. When working in a erosive slurry service the ability to use traditional flow meters is challenging. Traditional meters such as the orifice plate have been known to read 2.5-3.5% inaccurate due to damage caused by erosive services. This led us to finding a flow measurement that could handle the process parameters as well as the erosion difficulties. The wedge meter was shown to have higher accuracy than other flow measurement when exposed to the erosive process. A fabricated package with epoxy coating was designed to minimize the leakage requirements combined with Rosemount Transmitters to fulfill the required communication protocol.
