Emerson Presents Approved DeltaV Product Update: Recent Licensing Changes and Enhancements Historically, licensing of the DeltaV DCS has been an often misunderstood and, in some cases, complex topic. This workshop will explain several beneficial enhancements and simplifications made to the DeltaV system licensing model recently. Explanations and clarifications for several new license options will be provided. The workshop will also give users the opportunity to provide licensing feedback and suggestions for future enhancement. Historically, DeltaV systems utilizing several signals (values) from intelligent field devices (Ff, HART, PROFIBUS DP, DeviceNet, etc.) within the control strategy required an appropriate Device Signal Tag (DST) license (i.e. cost) for each signal referenced in the control configuration. With recent licensing changes, customers are not penalized for utilizing the field device intelligence. With only a single DST license required for a field device, customers are now able to utilize valuable parameters from their devices in control strategies and operator/maintenance displays, resulting in operational benefits by allowing abnormal situation prevention and better cause/effect troubleshooting. The newly implemented I/O signal DST counting rules in the DeltaV system require only a single DST license for each intelligent field device, no matter how many signals are referenced from the device.
